Training
Pool and Theory training for Ocean Diver qualifications commenced in late 2024. Specific dates and invite details will be published on the club calendar and recordings of completed Zoom meetings are accessible via the private club members page. We had 12 trainees join the club for Ocean Diver training. In March we will hold a dedicated Ocean Diver trip aboard the MV Clasina based out of Oban, this 3 day trip will cover all of the open water lessons required to gain the BSAC Open Water certification.
We have an active program for Sports Diver, Dive Leader and Advanced Diver training. All lectures were completed over the winter months and focus is now on open water training and experience dives.
We will run Diver Rescue, Chartwork and Position Fixing, Boat Handling and Advanced Decompression Procedures courses in the summer.
We are also working with BSAC to host a local Instructor Foundation Course in spring.
Weekend and weekday dives are now being organised, weekly summer dives are planned for Thursday evenings (weather permitting). Dives are communicated to members through the Dive Planning Slack channel.
We organised first aid training for club members last spring. This covered Scene Assessment, Barrier Use, Primary Assessment, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Serious Bleeding Management, Shock Management, Spinal Injury Management, Conscious and Unconscious Choking Management.
We are planning a number of exciting multi-day trips and expeditions for club members. Current planned trips are detailed on the Club Expeditions page. Trips this year will include Oban, Locahline, St Kilda, Summer Solstice weekend at Pennan, Lossiemouth wrecks, Scapa Flow, Capenwray, Loch Duich, Skye and many others.
We will be running Try Dive sessions for people with disabilities this year. A fundraiser was completed in 2022, raising over £1700 for the program. Anyone interested should get in touch using our contacts form.
